First commercially available Fortran compiler for Apple Silicon Macs now available to download<\/h3>\n

10 November 2020 – Oxford, UK<\/strong>: n<\/i><\/span>AG announce\u00a0the latest\u00a0n<\/i><\/span>AG Fortran Compiler<\/a>\u00a0for the new Apple platform running natively, without emulation, on Apple Silicon, an Arm v8 processor.\u00a029 years\u00a0after developing the world\u2019s first Fortran-90 compiler n<\/i><\/span>AG has released the first commercially available Fortran compiler for Apple Silicon Macs.<\/p>\n

Correctness, portability, robustness, and generated code performance<\/h3>\n

At Release 7.0 the\u00a0n<\/i><\/span>AG Fortran Compiler<\/a>\u00a0offers complete coverage of Fortran 2003, most of Fortran 2008 – including coarrays and submodules – and significant features from Fortran 2018. The Compiler has been ported to many platforms during its history, and is validated by a world-class test suite, developed at n<\/i><\/span>AG. It is engineered for correctness, portability, robustness, and generated code performance. Independent evaluations regularly score it highest for its standard-checking and error detection features[1].<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Development of the n<\/i><\/span>AG Fortran Compiler is led\u00a0by\u00a0Malcolm Cohen, Project Editor of the ISO\/IEC Fortran language standard since Fortran 2008. Speaking of the Apple Silicon Macs implementation he said,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
